Bernard Remy, Blanc de Blancs, Сhampagne
A marriage made in heaven - Chardonnay and Chalk have lived harmoniously together for many a year.
From this alliance, citrus aromas come to life in the mouth and lie subtly on a pallet of white flowers.
The brilliant, deep colour is adorned with multiple green reflections typical of "Pure Chardonnay".
The nose is lively, fresh and intense. Full and smooth on the palate, with citrus aromas dominating.
It reaches fullness in a creamy finale with slight buttery hints.
Blanc de Blancs can well accompany a fillet of veal or sole meunière
.
Castano Coleccion Chardonnay Barrica
Straw yellow color with golden highlights. Clean and shiny. In the nose it's fruity, with citrus and tropical hints such as orange zest, pineapple and mango peel. Pronounced intensity. On the palate it's fresh, unctuous, combines fruity notes with subtle notes coming from its malolactic conversion and aging in barrels (fresh butter, baking notes, vanilla and cinnamon nuances).
6 months in new French oak barrels of 500L. Batonnage realized during its time in the barrel.
Domaine Bersan, Chablis “Les Ouches”, Chablisien, 2022
Domaine Bersan, Chablis Premier Cru Montmains, Chablisien, 2022
Father and son duo Jean-Louis and Jean-Christophe run this 22-hectare estate based in Saint-Bris-le-Vineux. This village, beyond the limit of the Chablis district, is notable for its sheer number of highly respected growers, many of whom have vines up the road in Chablis. In France, Saint Bris is much sought-after, but thankfully it remains under-the-radar in the UK, making these wines a real coup when it comes to quality and pedigree of terroir. Soils are either Portland or Kimmeridgian and the village is chock full of 11th and 12th century cellars. The cellar carrying the name Bersan above the door is particularly lovely, crammed with barrels in which the wines peacefully mature.
Domaine Famille Paquet, Macôn Village Nos Cinq Terroirs 2022
Famille Paquet Mâcon-Villages Nos Cinq Terroirs 2022 is a medium-bodied dry white wine produced from Chardonnay grapes in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, France. Located in the village of Davayé, Famille Paquet is a 30ha family property founded in 1980 by Jocelyne and Michel Paquet. The domaine is now run by their three sons Jean-Baptiste, Mathieu and Camille, who manage each of their 50 vineyard parcels individually, using organic and biodynamic methods. This refreshing yet textural Chardonnay is an expression of the five different terroirs of the domaine. Citrusy and mineral, with a hint of creaminess, Nos Cinq Terroirs would serve well as an aperitif or as a pairing for light or creamy seafood dishes.
Domaine Rijckaert, Haute Cuvée Mâcon Fuissé, Maconnais 2021
Jean Rijckaert's approach is simple: he wants to make wines that he likes without succumbing to fashions or the wishes of customers. Similarly, he refuses to make his wines competition beasts: his bottles are there to be drunk and not exhibited.
On the winemaking side, we can note that in this Chardonnay enthusiast, fermentations are done without the addition of yeast, that there can be a slight correction of the alcoholic strength, that sulphites are added as needed and that finally, filtration is not systematically rejected. Fermentation and aging take place in oak barrels, with always a small proportion of new ones .
Domaine Rijckaert, Pouilly Fuissé Haute Cuvee, Maconnais 2022
This Pouilly-Fuisse expresses all the complexity that a Chardonnay could give on a great terroir of Burgundy. 100% Chardonnay. Expresses the typical qualities of the famous appellation. A blend from vineyards in relatively cool areas (facing west), this Pouilly-Fuissé has a generous heart in an elegant body. Limestone soils on more or less stony slopes.
EPC BLANC DE BLANCS GRAND CRU
This Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru champagne from EPC is a 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru from the Avize and Oger terroirs, created from the five most beautiful parcels. It is a cuvée of character, a true ode to Blanc de Blancs.
With the EPC brand, we enter a new experience of consumption by tasting the champagne in a traditional glass of the Champagne region and very friendly: the blida. Another innovation: the presence of a thermo-sensitive disc that indicates when the champagne is at the right temperature.
After 52 months of aging, and a low dosage of 3g/l, greediness (with notes of praline and hazelnut) and chewiness are present. The balance is perfect with the freshness of this champagne.
This Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru champagne from EPC, a real delicacy, will be perfect as an aperitif or during a meal, with poultry in cream sauce or simply a Comté cheese aged 24 months.
